Windows uses different pointers for different jobs

The familiar arrow is the Normal Select pointer, but Windows also switches to a hand over links, an I-beam over text, a busy indicator while an app is working, and several resize arrows at window edges. Windows defines 17 pointer roles in total. Changing only the main arrow can leave the rest of the system in the original style.

A complete cursor pack supplies a matching design for those roles. Cursed applies all 17 together, which keeps the pointer consistent as you move between the desktop, browser, text fields, and application windows.

Pick size and contrast before style

A detailed pointer can look sharp in a preview and still disappear against a busy wallpaper or a white document. Choose a size that remains visible at your normal screen distance, then check the cursor over both light and dark backgrounds. Color should improve contrast without hiding the pointer’s tip.

Windows has built-in accessibility controls for basic pointer size and color. Cursed adds those choices to its full cursor packs, so the design and the visibility settings stay together.

Keep a path back to the original scheme

Before Cursed changes a pointer, it records the existing per-user cursor scheme. You can restore that saved scheme or return to the Windows defaults from the app. Cursed changes the settings for your Windows account only; it does not install a driver or require administrator permission.

Useful rule: use the Windows controls when you only need a larger or higher-contrast standard pointer. Use a cursor app when you want a complete visual scheme, imported artwork, animation, or one-click switching between designs.
